What We Are About
what we hold dear
The literal meaning of what Christ taught:
We should be humble and meek
It is not about a "church face" it is about building real relationships in that God loves us all equally and none of us are a mistake. No one here is too good for anyone else .... really!
We should be merciful and forgiving
People will hurt us - we will forgive eachother. God forgave us for so much. We are also not to be judgemental; for so many, the face of the church is the face of judgementalism. We believe that the Holy Spirit changes lives and will do so if we offer true unconditional love and acceptance. We trust the Spirit to do His work in His time and do not try to do His job for Him.
We should be giving
Christ said [Mt 5:42] "Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away." We help our brothers and sisters as much as we can.
We should be pure in heart and seeking Him
We do not force purity upon others but know that Christ must be first in our lives and so we each make comittments to [Mt 6:33] "... seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you."
These are not just Sunday morning pretty words and ideals; they effect the way we join together. We cherish each other without judgment and we teach the Word in love. Not as a hammer but as a refreshing wellspring of life. [2Ti 2:24-26] "And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all [men], apt to teach, patient, In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; And [that] they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.
