2013-5-2......Hey, what's up the the break in time here Pastor????
I'm gonna be honest with you, life has been busy, and the church (CIA) has gone through interesting times. I think the highlight, though, was a Word from the Lord that I got....and I don't say that lightly! Came the day of the Boston Marathon bombing......please do with it what you will.
"If my Church does not follow my instructions, warfare againt the enemy will result in defeat. I told you to pray for your enemies, to be meek, gentle, kind..... yet you want to go your own way! You are MY bride....decide who you will serve....me or yourself!"
The tragedy of that day reflected great loss, still it was only a battle....justice will be served, but justice is whose???? Want to lead like Jesus, better brush up on how He did lead......goes double for me!
So,Norm, execise your free will........not easy is it??????????
2013-4-7......There's life here in the alley today...Webster's dictionary defines life as," a principle or force that is considered to underlie the distinctive quality of animate beings". Life is not always pretty, fun, or easy. Today's service was full of life, and to me today, it was a struggle for alot of people. Struggling with illness, addiction, pain, sorrow....yet God is faithful!
As one woman was praying against a depression, a sadness, during her prayer she began to laugh and smile....the more she prayed, the more she laughed. And as I stood in the gap with her, along with another intercessor, we started smiling and laughing too.....here's the point.....why carry your burden alone as a believer in the Christ?
You have the power and authority of the Creator of the Heavens and the Earth to give them to! It was all left at the Cross...so look up, not down.....I'll try if you will.....after all, we're all in this together!
2013-3-29 through 31..... Easter weekend! Started with a Good Friday service, partnering with Church of the Nations in Oxnard. Acoustic service, one hour, an interactive visual journey theough the Stations of the Cross. The Holy Spirit was there......Easter sunrise service at Grant Park...Church in the Alley partnered with the River Community Church and Community Bible Church of Ventura to celebrate Easter at sunrise at Grant Park. Yes, Easter at the CROSS! The Holy Spirit was there........ finally, Easter service at the Church in the Alley at 11am....halfway through the service the rain came. I asked God, "What do we do?". He said, " Keep going!". We did....and rather than see people leave the patio for shelter, I saw people move closer together!!! We celebrated, we worshipped, we prayed, we got wet.....and the Holy Spirit was there!
He has risen, He has risen indeed!!! Pastor Norm
2013-3-24 Palm Sunday....beautiful day, something special in the air, for sure! Full worship team today; keys, sax, 2 guitars, bass, and "Sticks" McBride on drums. All the tools in place and the Holy Spirit lit the rocket! We celebrated and praised with abandon for the King was in the house...and we were all in. Hey, if we didn't praise Him that way, the rocks in the alley would. Scripture was Luke 19:28-41, just what we needed..........as usual.
What a special week this is....Church in the Alley's eyes are on you Jesus!
I'll just say it.....we're in love! Pastor Norm
2013-3-17 This Sunday started kinda cool and damp...and many of the "usual suspects" in leadership were MIA, but for very good reasons. Family, illness, all kinds of emergency things. Left us wondering how the service would run, both from a logistical and spiritual standpoint. Ah, the flesh..."worry about nothing, pray about everything" is what we're instructed to do. That being said, new leaders emerged, many with no prompting or instruction on what to do......and things were just done! The service was a truly a spiritual experience second to none; led by the Holy Spirit, worship and prayer was off the hook, words spoken and received....and just as some key leadership was missing, God was not.
"Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, toaday and forever" Heb 13:8.
Let the record reflect................. Pastor Norm
2013-3-10 Isn't it interesting how God will have his way? The uniqueness of every Sunday service is a testimony to His love and grace, often in spite of ourselves! Frank opened with prayer and encouragement, Kate subbed for Bob on drums (well done, by the way), and fortunately the Holy Spirit showed up faithfully as always, so the sermon was alive and relevant (Matt. 11:11-20). Prayer followed and lunch was served......served by the youth of the church! I must say, provided the beautiful weather and fellowship of the brothers and siters, old and new, it couldn't have been better. Just a hunch, though...........probably not a amazing as next Sunday!
2013-03-03 Our Sunday morning event was really an event. The Holy Spirit showed up in a big way and many people were touched and blessed. Norm did not elect to share what he had prepared for so that we could follow the Spirit's lead. We are always in awe when this happens and yet, shouldn't this be the norm in a church led by the Holy Spirit? We are thankfull for His blessings.
2013-02-27 massive work on the webpage ... maybe you noticed!
